5 Local Places you MUST visit
1. Love Birds Coffee & Tea Co.
Let me just preface this by saying that I am by NO means a food critic... I am just a girl who loves food!
I have a few new friends who have been asking me about local food and activities. I have lived here my whole life so of course I started listing things off and that gave me an idea to do a list of local businesses you should visit. I decided the first one should be food because, well, I love it! Our community is full of great restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops. If it's not on the list and you think it should be, write in to me and maybe I will visit and add it in. Let's get started, shall we?!

Okay, if you know me, well then you know this is a given... This place is one of my favorites and I brag about them all the time. The owners are friends of mine and both have hearts of gold, so it's a no-brainer that when you walk in you are greeted in the most friendliest ways. Whether it's Garrett or any of the baristas behind the bar, you can count on a smile and great conversation. Their customer service is on point every time I go in and when I hear them with other customers. Their drinks are clearly marked on the chalk wall and the baristas are happy to answer any questions. My favorite is when you can tell them what you like and they give you a recommendation. My first visit I told Garrett that I like mint, he suggested the grasshopper which is a mocha with mint. I asked if I could have it with white mocha so it wasn't so chocolaty. Thus was the birth of the "Albino Grasshopper" my personal favorite. They will always warn you if you get a large that they already come with 4 shots of espresso, maybe that's why I love it so much, they take their coffee seriously, and that's a cause I can support.
Now, maybe you are not a coffee lover, that's okay you can repent later, but you enjoy a nice cup of tea. This is definitely the place for you! Garrett and Jasmin have hand selected their teas and offer roughly 40 different flavors in herbal teas and caffeinated teas. Just smelling the teas brings me joy because there HAS to be a tea there for everybody. If you're just becoming a tea-drinker, have no fear, because they sell the accessories you would need there too! You can even get the tasting box for teas! This little slice of Italy is the perfect spot to enjoy the morning alone or with you friends and family.
Okay, now that we got the drink talk out of the way, let me tell you about my FAVORITE addition to this coffee haven...
WAFFLE BAR!!!
Yep, you read that correctly, a waffle bar! When you order at the counter, you pick your poison and they will hand you a cute little mason jar. Shake it up, pour it on the iron and the sweet aroma is sure to open those sleepy eyes and get your stomach growling. Take your cooked waffle back to the barista and they will top it off for you! If you like hearty flavors, there's a waffle for that. If you like fruit, there's a waffle for that. If you like cinnamon, there's a waffle for that. If you like nutella, THERE'S A WAFFLE FOR THAT!! Seriously, if you even kind of like waffles, you need to get the full experience here.
And how could I forget... Have you met that mom who can do it all, or at least that's how it looks. If not, look no further Jasmin, owner, wife and of course, mother hand makes most of the baked goods you will see in the case up front. The pizza bagels, blueberry bagels, cinnamon rolls, you see it, chances are, she baked it. And everything I have tried so far has made it even harder to select what I will be eating any given day because they're all so delicious! I did hear that Garrett does make a few of the treats, so I guess I'll give him some credit for that, but really, Jasmin is the hands behind the baked goods. I don't know how they do it with their two handsome little boys and the shop, but God is definitely showing off with them!
Please, don't just take my word for it, stop by the shop and tell them you've read about the shop. Don't be afraid to ask any questions, the staff is all amazing. Lastly, if you love them as much as I do, please let them know and recommend them to everyone you know, they definitely deserve it!

2. Thai Noodle Express
They say the first step to recovery is admitting your problem. I wouldn't say that this is a problem, but I cannot tell you how many times a week I say "I want Thai food!" because you would say I have a problem. Anyone who has eaten at this little nook would probably tell you that I definitely don't. Those are the kinds of people I need in my life!
Okay, but seriously, this place is incredible. If you sneezed while driving or walking down Main St. Placerville, you WILL miss it. This little mom and pop shop is family ran and you can tell it is abrade that was taught. We really like to order out and take the food home, not because it's a bad place to stay and eat, but because our family takes up the whole storefront. They have the cutest two-seated tables out front, but this is a very small restaurant.
They offer a variety of Thai food from Pad Thai to Drunken Chicken. The first time I visited this spot, I ordered mango chicken curry and rice. I think that night I got saved... Okay, no, I was already saved, but my goodness it was incredible. I have since tried a variety of their dines and have never been left disappointed.
Once, I tried the Boba Coffee. I had never had Boba and I was so freaked out. The coffee itself was way too sweet for me and felt like it would have given me diabetes, and I could not get over the texture of the Boba beads. I did give this coffee to a coworker who likes Boba and she said it was really good, so I guess it wasn't them, it was me...
My girl Meagan and I got their sweet mango dessert and she said it was just like the kind that she ate as a kid when her stepdad would make it for them. She said it was very traditional and delicious. I had never had it and I thought it was very good considering mangoes were not in season at the time.
I have not had a lot of Thai food in my lifetime, but if it's all as good as the food they serve here, I am hooked for life. I do not want to admit how much I love this restaraunt because I am happily addicted.

I discovered this fresh new restaurant at a rep lunch at work, they brought us boxed lunches with sandwiches. The sandwich was so delicious and wasn't dry or too soggy. Just the small boxed lunch left such an impression on us that we went to the storefront to try other dishes they have. My personal favorites so far are the charcuterie platter with their cured meats and aged cheeses. It is served with slice baguette, pickled things (pickled fruit and veggies), and amazing spreads like house mustard and my favorite addition, the red wine jelly. The combination of the meat, cheese, and red wine jelly are perfect together and will impress anyone. they have such a selection of meats and chess that anyone can find a favorite here.
One rainy day, we decided to head to to the storefront and see what they had on special. They were offering a squash soup. We were skeptical, but since we love this place and the owner, we decided to go for it. Sometimes when you take a leap of faith , your feet leave the ground and you quickly plummet to the ground. Don't expect that here, this soup was amazing, the spices were the perfect pallet combination and paired with their bread, it was a delightful meal.
The downtown location of this restaurant is perfect and the best lunchtime work escape. The friendly faces and light setting makes for the perfect environment to meet with your girls. If you're in town and looking for a light and fresh meal, I encourage you stop by and enjoy a beautiful farm to table experience. Don't forget to check out the seating availability upstairs too!

If you're looking for a great burger, a good, laugh, and great conversation, you should definitely head over to Old Town Grill to see John and his team. This is another one of our lunchtime favorites. The staff is pleasant and the atmosphere is great. The hamburgers are to die for and they have a vegetarian option. The price is average and you get good portions. As you walk in you are met at the grill where you can watch your meal be prepared and served. There is good seating in the front, but there is also a great patio area in the back.
John, the owner is a friendly, well known face around town. He is also the owner of the Smith Flat house which is also a local favorite. He manages both well and can be seen at both locations.
I recently ventured out to try the pesto chicken sandwich and it was awesome, not dry at all and the flavors were on point. I also tried the Gold Miner's Hand which was the cutest presentation. Simply, it is a chicken breast cut to look like a hand. I know sounds silly, but made for a good chuckle on a stressful day. Honestly, you need to try this place for yourself. I doubt you will be disappointed.

5. Urban Yogurt

If you know me, you may know that I can be pretty indecisive. I'm sure you can imagine how difficult it can be to try to perfect a frozen yogurt and topping combination! If you're like me in this way, Urban Yogurt may be your demise.
Upon entering you are greeted with one of the cleanest establishments in our area. There are at least 8 flavors of yogurt to choose from and you can easily combine flavors to make your perfect blend. The friendly employees will likely ask you if you'd like to sample the yogurt and help you retrieve them. Once you get your yogurt you can walk over to the toppings...
This is where it gets difficult and amazing all at once. There are fresh fruits, boba, chocolate chips, sprinkles, cereal, syrups, fudge, nutella, pretty much anyones favorite toppings. My favorite however, is the fresh cookie dough that is made for them by a local chocolate shop. They are meticulous about keeping the yogurt machines and toppings bar extremely clean. I think that this really leaves an impression on the local customers. We have had a few yogurt shops in our area and none of them have compared to this yogurt shop.
The owners should be extremely proud of this establishment. I'm not sure how the price compares to other yogurt shops because honestly, I am good with paying for the quality of service, cleanliness, and quality of this Yogurt and toppings. I can't speak enough about how great this shop is, if I were you I would hurry to try it myself. I honestly think you will become a regular. Who knows, with summer around the corner, maybe I will see you there.

Carly Cain Photography
Everyone is ALWAYS asking me if I know any photographers for a reasonable price... I can point you in the direction of a few good people, but I've never actually hired them, that is until now!
When I started this site, I had no good portraits to use. I decided to hire a photographer to take some photos, so, I enlisted the help of a good friend. Let me just say, she knew she was taking the photos for the site, but down the line I decided to review her business. So for a "short" session it was a very reasonable price. We decided to take the photos at a local feild and a friends yard.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by Carly and we went right to work. I warned her that this was not a comfortable journey for me, I'd much rather take selfies than pose in front of a camera. She was so gracious as she helped me come out of my shell through the entire photo shoot. She captured the images that I requested and made me have fun while doing it. We were already friends before the shoot, but I am very confident that through any of her shoots you will leave friends and have fun stories to share about your day.
Like you all, I am human and didn't think about the fact that I am allergic to a few environmental things. As I was standing and walking through the field of dry weeds (which if your even slightly country, you know that scene makes for a good photo), I began to feel itchy. By the time we left that location, both of my legs were blotchy red, and itching like crazy and we were only partially done! Carly was so sweet as I panicked and assured me that if you could see my legs in the pictures, that she could edit it out and make them look normal.
Throughout our whole shoot I was having so much fun, that I didn't want it to be over. We reluctantly headed to our next location. When we arrived we began scoping it out and found some good spots. I am a floral freak and Carly was great at keeping that in mind while assessing lighting. As we wandered the yard, she was able to capture images that not only looked great, but kept my personality and lifestyle included. She had ideas for photos that I could use for certain sections of the blog site, but also that I could use for sermons, girls events, and reminders of the things God has done in my life.
Carly did a phenomenal job keeping my interest at heart, making me comfortable, and being professional all while capturing gorgeous photos. I will always highly recommend Carly Cain Photography, not only because I know her personally, but because her business is the type of business I want to support.

LuLaRoe with Tiffany Bergstrom
Pictured above is Business owner Tiffany Bergstrom in her mustache leggings and a teal Irma top!
Before I get started, let me tell you that when I was first told about LuLaRoe, I was shocked at the prices. I couldn't believe people were paying that much for a pair of leggings!😳 Soon thereafter, my best friend was raving about them and made me try a pair on. Let me tell you, if you have not tried them on imagine diving into chocolate mousse😍 AMAZING! I never thought I would succumb to this latest trend, but I don't think I can ever go back! They are the coziest, softest, and warmest leggings I've ever owned! It can't go without saying that there are also many shirts and dress styles to choose from to go along with them. There is also a children's line, and men's line so you can do the families shopping all in one spot!
Just a few short days after hearing about them, I was dragged by my bestie into this backyard boutique, which is basically the cutest thing ever! It has a good sized dressing room and extremely organized racks of product! It is well stocked and easy to browse through too! This beautiful boutique belongs to Tiffany Bergstrom and was built by her husband Kevin! I love to support our small town shops, and I couldn't leave this one out! As we were trying on some outfits, we began to talk to Tiffany the owner. We came to realize that she is a very professional and organized distributor and was very knowledgeable on the product!
For those of you that don't know, LuLaRoe is a faith based, family operated company that started with a mom who homemade her families clothes. Before she knew it people were falling in love with her designs. She started gifting these handmade clothes and pretty soon her hobby became the booming business that we know as LuLaRoe! With it being a family based business, it quickly became an opportunity for people who wanted to distribute it to make extra money to provide them with abilities they may not normally have. Whether it's taking a long overdue family vacation, being able to become a stay at home mom, or help make ends meet, LuLaRoe has provided many opportunities for families across America.
That night, as we spoke with Tiffany, we learned that her husband had just been injured on the job. He is an independent contractor and the main source of income for their family...or should I say was! Because of LuLaRoe their family is still able to live within their means. The income provided by them working as a team and selling this amazing product is enough to pay their main bills and keep their family safe. It doesn't go without hard work though! I have been watching Tiffany launch this new adventure and let me tell you, she is awesome at it! She is overflowing with passion for what she does and she is so creative with it! She does fun giveaways, pop-up parties all over town, and live "shop the box" videos. She recently started a new "Where in the world is Tiffany" aspect of her shop the box videos and we have hunted her down twice now! She has this way of involving you in her business in a fun way and is not overly pushy about having you buy her product! Even she will tell you, this product sells itself!
I'm giving this business 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 because the owner is friendly, timely, honest, and the product is great.
